What to Expect During Construction

While we are going to get a safer, higher functioning intersection, construction takes times and will include lane and left turn restrictions.

Grimm Signal: INDOT will be installing a signal at Grimm in mid May prior to the start of construction

•Phase 1 - June 12th, 2023: sections of 66 may be down to two lanes of travel in each direction / NO ACTIVE DETOURS

•Phase 2 - Nov. 13, 2023: There will be sections of SR66 down to two lanes of travel in each direction PLUS no left turns at Epworth from 66 / DETOURS in EFFECT

•Phase 3 - May 20th, 2024 There will be sections of SR66 down to two lanes of travel in each direction PLUS no left turns at Epworth from 66 / DETOURS in EFFECT

CURRENT END DATE: Nov 24th, 2024 Contractor will provide two weeks notice of traffic pattern changes

The contractor does have the following options

1)Reducing the number of SR 66 open lanes per direction to a single lane, but only during nighttime hours (defined in the construction contract as 8:00 pm to 6:00 am local time);

2)Implementing temporary 20-minute (maximum) closures of SR 66 traffic during nighttime hours for overhead signage erection or for traffic signal work. **** Any nighttime work restrictions/closures will require the contractor to still provide a 2-week pre-notification of the restrictions/temporary closures, and any nighttime work restrictions/closures will still require the contractor to accommodate emergency vehicles to the fullest extent possible. *****
